Resource Worker - Relief

    We are seeking a reliable, emotionally intelligent and people focused individual to provide support and connect shelter participants with resources in the community for housing.

    This is a casual, permanent position. Must be flexible to work day and evening shifts to meet the needs of the program.

    Your key responsibilities include :

  • Provide individual support to men with high acuity
  • Relate with men accessing the shelter
  • Perform shelter team duties ensuring the best possible operation of the program
  • Responsible for working in a healthy and safe manner
  • House of Friendship organizational responsibilities
  • Maintaining positive community partnerships and connecting participants with community resources
  • Upholding Housing of Friendships reputation and values in community interactions
  • Your skills and experience include :

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in social services or related field is required
  • Experience providing individualized support services
  • Experience of homelessness or relating with people experiencing homelessness
  • Experience in a social service setting preferred
  • Current Standard First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain at hiring
  • Commitment to a strength-based approach to supporting people
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Aptitude for accurate and efficient computer data entry
  • Ability to work effectively with people from various abilities, life situations and cultural backgrounds
  • Commitment to understand and uphold the mission and values of House of Friendship is expected
  • Note : Working with and encountering participants who may be under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and / or experiencing symptoms of mental illness will be expected.
