We are seeking a Software Engineer to join the Shutterstock Motion team in Montreal. The motion team is building video and music products for use by creatives world-

wide. It powers the Shutterstock Footage website, Music website as well as the PremiumBeat website.

Responsibilities :

  • Contributing to all aspects of the application under the team’s ownership, which includes design, implementation, refactoring, documentation, automated testing.
  • Helping other team members grow as engineers through code review, pairing, and mentoring.
  • Play a major role in the development of key applications within the Shutterstock ecosystem.
  • Drive architectural decisions that are both in line with company direction and team requirements.
  • Participate in discussions to help improve the general development experience in a monorepo structure.
  • Collaboration with others to develop best practices.
  • Requirements :

  • 3+ years of relevant software development experience building web applications,
  • In-depth knowledge of optimization, REST and best practices in the context of APIs,
  • Strong software development fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, problem solving, functional programming).
  • Good understanding of continuous delivery, writing unit tests and automated testing.
  • Experience with Nodejs with working knowledge of the key libraries (Express, Swagger, etc).
  • Ability to craft simple and elegant solutions to complex problems.
  • Passionate about what you do and care deeply about the things you build.
  • Able to clearly communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related experience.
  • Bonus Skills :

  • Writing vanilla ES7 JavaScript.
  • Experience with Express and Swagger.
  • Unit Testing framework (Jest)
  • React.js
  • Experience in an Agile environment.
  • Experience in a monorepo structure.
