About You

HDR is currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager. The successful candidate will be involved in project coordination, design management, financial and schedule monitoring, stakeholder engagement and negotiations, quality management, and will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to create high-quality design solutions

Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Assistant Project Manager, we'll count on you to :

  • Assist the Project Manager in the day-to-day coordination of projects
  • Manage project budgets and schedule under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager
  • Coordinate designs with the rest of the multidisciplinary team including bridges, traffic, pavement, environmental, and electrical
  • Support engagement and negotiation with key project stakeholders
  • Act as a transportation engineer as needed, including preparing road alignments, cross-sections, active transportation design, grading models, drainage designs, storm sewer network layouts, quantity estimates, cost estimates, project documentation, and specifications
  • Prepare work plans and schedules in coordination with project managers and other disciplines

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation in Ontario a plus
  • 4+ years’ experience
  • Familiarity with Ontario road design practices including application of design standards, TAC Geometric Design Guide for Ontario Roads, OPSS and OPSD, and preparing contracts
  • Experience engaging and negotiating with project stakeholders
  • Self-starter with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with the PM Book of Knowledge and / or Project Management Professional (PMP) designation is preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
