This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.


Under the direction of the Health Services Manager, the Registered Nurse will provide Psychiatric Nursing Services to the Mentally Ill Offender Unit.

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for the biopsychosocial assessment of clients within the East Coast Forensic Hospital programs.

The Registered Nurse will also work collaboratively with a variety of clinicians to assist the client through the treatment and discharge process.

Emphasis will be placed on assessments, treatment interventions, health promotion activities and discharge planning. The RN will maintain contact with Corrections personnel within the confines of client confidentiality.


  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
  • Registered with the NSCN
  • Baccalaureate degree preferred
  • Completion of the post grad course in psychiatric mental health nursing preferred
  • Certification in psychiatric / mental health nursing through the CNA preferred
  • Demonstrated ability in conducting biopsychosocial assessments
  • Strong knowledge of Mental Health treatment practices
  • Critical thinking skills with an ability to resolve or stabilize crisis
  • Self-directed in his / her nursing practice and professional development
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a capacity for coping with challenging clinical situations, an openness for change, and the ability to effectively contribute as a member of the team
  • Ability to delegate nursing tasks effectively to other members of the team.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

    Hours of Work

    Long Assignment, Full Time (100%) Position; 75 hours bi-weekly

    Beginning as soon as possible with an expected end date of June 30 2022

    Shifts include days, evenings, night and weekends

    Salary Information

    $35.0366 - $41.4138 Hourly

    $42.8633 with 25 years' of RN experience)
