About the Team

The role is part of a methodology focused team dedicated to developing and enhancing Sustainalytics’ product suite focused on climate solutions.

The role is integrated as part of our global methodology team, with teammates located in Toronto, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

Position Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meeting the needs of clients that want to better understand risks and opportunities from the transition to a low-carbon economy and from physical risks of climate change.

The person in this position will be responsible for supporting methodology managers and leadership with multiple types of quantitative analysis required for the creation and enhancement of products and product prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with methodology managers on methodology & product development; translation of product ideas into data-driven models that can be implemented and tested.

Testing of internal and external validity of a model / methodology including change / impact analyses and portfolio performance analyses.

Interpretation and communication of testing results.

Creation of simplified versions of original models (model reduction) by using statistical optimization techniques.

Utilizing big data / data science to develop non-research-based metrics.

Collaborate with methodology managers and other internal stakeholders on creating technical documentation and implementing new methodologies or methodological changes.

Qualifications

Bachelors or Masters degree in related discipline (finance, mathematics, statistics, econometrics, data science or related sciences).

At least 3 years of relevant work experience, with a preference for this with a background in ESG or sustainability.

Strong foundation in quantitative analysis, programming, statistics, econometrics, modelling, and / or big data processing is necessary.

Creativity and problem solving that can be applied in real-life applications.

The ability to work with analytical software and tools, including Excel, Python, Jupyter Notebook, Tableau and / or Minitab.

Ability to work independently and within a strong team environment.
