George Brown College runs 12 child care centres located in the Greater Toronto Area, offering high quality child care to children and their families, and year-round programming for children from infancy to 12 years of age.

We are currently seeking Registered Early Childhood Educators and Early Childhood Assistants for part-time School Age positions, for up to 24 hours per week.

The hourly rate for RECEs is $28.71, and the hourly rate for ECAs is $21.37.

The ECE and ECA positions are responsible for facilitating the before and after school programs as well as the duties outlined below.

RECE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

  • Experience working with children aged 2.5 through 12 years.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to children, families, staff and centre personnel.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the CCEYA and Quality Assurance.
  • Strong programming skills following children's needs, incorporating active learning, excerpts from ELECT, How Does Learning Happen?
  • and an anti-bias approach to programming.

  • Current member in good standing with the College of ECEs.
  • Must have health assessment and immunization as required by the Ministry of Education.
  • Holds current Standard First Aid and CPR level C certification.
  • Current and clear - Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
  • RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO :

  • Ensuring that all legislation requirements are followed.
  • Planning and implementation of children's developmentally appropriate programming.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member, fostering a child-centered, family-friendly atmosphere.
  • Ability to work with external agencies.
  • Managing facilities and ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  • Able to follow through with policies and procedures.
  • ECA QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

  • Early Childhood Assistant Certificate (one year Community College program) or equivalent and First Aid Certificate.
  • Must have health assessment and immunization as required by the Ministry of Education.
  • More than six months and up to one year of practical related child care experience.
  • Excellent English communication, problem solving, and human relations skills and a commitment to diversity and equity are essential to interact effectively with the College's diverse child, student and staff population.
  • Ability to follow policies, procedures, and instructions from Supervisor and ECE team member with accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as an effective team member.
  • Good interpersonal, organization, and observation skills.
  • Current and clear - Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check
  • RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO :

  • Assists the ECE Staff in the developmental assessment of individual children based on observations; establishes and maintains effective communication with parents and student teachers by sharing daily information regarding children's activities, programs, special events and etc.
  • Provides assistance with arranging children's play space to reflect the philosophy of the curriculum.
  • Assists with the daily preparation of the playground and playroom; cleans / organizes equipment and other areas of the centre as needed.
