Position Summary :
The Director, Marketing Operations, plays a strategic role within the marketing team. Reporting to and acting as the right hand to the VP Marketing, he or she will be responsible for developing the strategic marketing operations direction for the company, helping transition our team from high functioning silos to a streamlined, well-
oiled machine of collaborative operational excellence. Not only will the successful candidate love being immersed in data and process development, but they will have a high competency in managing both financial and acquisition program performance analytics.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Planning & Tactical Alignment
The Marketing Operations lead will be responsible for the definition, automation and streamlining of marketing operation processes to turn great ideas and strategies into tangible marketing outcomes.
Manages the development and implementation of processes, tools, metrics, strategic initiatives, infrastructure and technology that will support and improve the operations of the marketing function.
Works with key stakeholders to drive development, alignment and centralized management of marketing strategies and project plans.
Drives organization-wide efforts to ensure Marketing resources money and people are effectively managed and allocated.
Leads the development of a marketing infrastructure that supports the streamlined execution of the team’s strategies and tactics.
Develops and continuously improves tools that are necessary in the planning and execution of successful marketing programs and provides key insight and recommendations on budget allocation and investments based on the department’s past financial performance.
Analytics and Performance Management
The Director, Marketing Operations works with operational teams to regularly test and evaluate the efficacy of marketing strategies and tactics to ensure they are aligned to marketing and corporate goals and that marketing is realizing maximum impact and return on our investments.
Benchmarks the organization’s current marketing activities, performance and investment against industry best practices.
Manages marketing performance dashboards, forecasts, and our Balanced Scorecard, including tracking and analysis of marketing data and recommendations for optimizing return on marketing investment and maximizing customer acquisition program outcomes.
Working closely with the inside sales and sales operations team, ensures key processes are well defined and adhered to in support of streamlined views of campaign performance and marketing influence on sales pipeline.
Conducts regular Marketing Operations Reviews to align Marketing strategy with tactics and ensure effective execution of Marketing strategy, including a functional health check on a quarterly basis.
Collaboration and Strategic Projects
Works with the VP Marketing to ensure marketing is strategically aligned with other key functions. This includes connecting, communicating, and staying in tune with the operations leads of these groups, capturing opportunities for improvement and sharing insights with Marketing leadership.
Works closely with the sales teams, marketing management, and key stakeholders in continuously optimizing the effectiveness of the marketing programs and campaigns and ensuring that marketing and sales efforts stay aligned with the business’s overall goals and objectives.
As assigned by VP Marketing, guides and reinforces delivery of key strategic initiatives. including leading marketing’s implementation of company-
wide strategic transformation activities and strategic imperatives.
Provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance.
You are :
A career marketer, with a minimum of 10 years experience in fast paced B2B organizations with at least 5 years in a marketing operations capacity, ideally at a senior level.
Ahead of the curve in your understanding of the strategic and critical role of marketing operations in modern marketing organizations.
Passionate about data and process; you understand metrics and the management of big data.
Not afraid of rolling your sleeves up when necessary.
A strong collaborator with a high EQ, understanding that developing strong people relationships is critical to your success.
An effective communicator with the ability to link creative marketing with linear analytics.
Intellectually curious and a lifelong learner who takes responsibility for your career development
Tech savvy, with an ideal mix of experience with a range of analytics tools. Specific experience and knowledge of Salesforce.
com, Marketo, and NetSuite an asset.
Well versed in both financial and campaign analytics with the confidence to make impactful recommendations.
