Golder has a new opportunity for Field Archaeologists to join our Environmental Planning team on a contract basis based in Ottawa, Ontario.

An overview of your role will include :

  • Provide technical services in a field environment;
  • Carry out archaeological survey, test excavation, and mitigative excavation in a Professional Cultural Resources Management setting (Stage 2 4);
  • Conduct archaeological assessment in a variety of work environments; outdoors in all weather conditions;
  • Overnight stays during out-of-town projects (single or double occupancy; per diem provided);
  • Participate in a team environment;
  • Work with and provide support to other members of the field technicians and assist with other field and lab activities as required;
  • Demonstrate a Safety First focus and act as a role model to other staff; and

    Perform other duties as required.

    You will have the following qualifications :

  • Possess or be currently pursuing an Archaeology, Anthropology or related degree from a recognized program;
  • Previous experience in Ontario archaeological fieldwork;
  • The ability to practice good field methodology at a brisk pace;
  • Ability to carry out strenuous physical activity, walk up to 15 km in ploughed fields per day, and occasional heavy lifting may be required.

  • Knowledge of Ontario material culture is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport’s 2011 Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists

  • Access to transportation and valid driver's licence;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
