We are currently seeking a System Architect to join our client’s Development Team. The System Architect will be a proactive, self-starter.
Responsibilities include the development of the overall technical vision and the delivery of technical solutions to meet business objectives.
The role requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect solutions by mapping common customer and business problems to reusable end-to-end technology solutions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate solid leadership, communication, analytical and technical skills and possess extensive experience in designing and building complex software solutions.

Provide overall technical vision for XML-based content publishing
Provide overall technical direction in application architecture, development and maintenance for a variety of web-based and desktop applications used by internal and external clients
Guide developers in the implementation of technical solutions and the management of technical debt
Review ongoing implementation governance and architecture compliance
Participate in the development of new features and the resolution of complex problems
Assist in the management of build environments and deployment issues
Guide the future implementation of a Content Management System
Identify development practices that are not efficient and make recommendations to implement innovative practices
Assist in the implementation of software development best practices
Participate in the documentation of processes as and when required
Identify new technologies and approaches to enhance our products and services including competitive analysis
Prepare and present internal training on various topics including new techniques and / or technologies
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred
Master’s degree in Computer Science an asset
Experience (minimum) :
7 to 10 years of overall IT experience
Minimum of 5 years designing complex, integrated application solutions
Knowledge of infrastructure components, middleware and SOA
Strong knowledge of XML
Expert knowledge of architecture
Experience with server-side languages such as C , Java, C# and the .NET Framework
Experience with languages such as XSLT and XQUERY
Experience with Regular Expressions
Experience and understanding of DTDs and Schemas (an asset)
Experience with data model design and SQL programming
Expert understanding of Object Oriented Programming
Ability to properly scope requirements, identify tasks, and determine level of effort
Experience (desired) :
Experience working with MS Enterprise Library
Experience with Content Management Systems
Familiarity with automated unit testing frameworks
Familiarity with software development tools like SharePoint, Team Foundation Server (TFS), MS Project, etc.
Experience working in a mature development environment and familiarity with methodologies like CMMI, Agile, etc.
