Animal Sciences Department
The Animal Science Department at Université Laval leads Québec in the training of highly qualified professionals in sustainable animal production and related research.
Its mission is to maintain close ties with various actors in the agri-food sector in order to meet specific needs in the area of animal production and to establish international partnerships focused on the development and dissemination of cutting-edge knowledge in the field of animal sciences.
The Animal Sciences Department has 20 faculty members working in a variety of scientific areas relating to animal production.
Each year, they teach more than 400 agronomy undergraduates and train about 75 graduate students.

In close collaboration with Animal Science Department faculty members, the candidate shall be required to :
Teach (in French) and develop courses in the field of animal health, including immunology and microbiology at both undergraduate and graduate levels;
Lead a program of original research in the field of animal immunology, host-microbiota relationship, particularly in relation to the intestinal physiology or the nutrition of farm animals.
Direct and guide undergraduate and graduate students;
Assume an equitable share of department participation in work conducted by internal and external committees;
Participate in Université Laval campus life.
The candidate must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in animal science, immunology, microbiology or in a pertinent field of study (applications will be considered from those who anticipate receiving their Ph.
D. before the proposed start time of the position)
She or He must possess sufficient knowledge and experience to teach courses in French* to both undergraduate and graduate students in Hygiene and animal health, including immunology, or a related field.
The candidate must have demonstrated aptitudes (relevant publications and other achievements) for conducting independent research in animal immunology, host-microbiota relationship, particularly in relation to the intestinal physiology or to the nutrition.
She or he must display excellent aptitudes for communication (oral and written) and teamwork, as well as a genuine interest in teaching.
Demonstrate a definite interest in the study of immunology and the host-microbiota relationship in order to improve the robustness of farm animals.
To be eligible for the Ordre des agronomes du Québec is an asset.
This is a tenure-track position. Faculty status (academic rank) and salary shall be established on the basis of the following considerations :
Status (rank) based on experience;
Salary according to the current collective bargaining agreement
