Duties / Accountabilities

  • Execute inbound and outbound transportation in a multi-modal environment.
  • Ensure all required domestic and international paperwork is accurately completed, filed and communicated to all necessary parties.
  • Generate and maintain database documenting all information relating to the import of shipments into Canada from international origins.
  • Work with freight service providers to book freight, maximize loads and develop solutions for freight cost reductions.
  • Ensure transit times align with required delivery dates.

  • Coordinate local cartage, courier and time critical shipments.
  • Coordinate resolution of delivery / receiving non conformance with Warehousing, Procurement and Suppliers.
  • Write / Update SOPs and training documents to ensure efficient and effective collaboration between Procurement, and Materials Control operations.
  • Review freight invoices and follow-up to resolve errors / omissions impacting timely payment.
  • Audit shipments created by suppliers and transportation partners including reviewing and maintaining records pertaining to storage and shipping instructions.
  • Ensures compliance with Regulatory Requirements including CBSA and Controlled Goods legislation.
  • Proactively use negotiation tactics to support logistics strategy.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders through professional and timely communications and inquiry responses.
  • Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated international and domestic logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • University degree or diploma in Supply Chain Logistics.
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), CITT-Certified Logistics Professional (CCLP) designation or equivalent is an asset
  • Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

  • Knowledge and background in Supply Chain which supports a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with freight movement and Inco 2010 terms.
  • Knowledge of Less Thank Truck Load (LTL), Truck Load (TL), Less than Container Load (LCL) and Air operations.
  • Customs Compliance experience.
  • Previous use of tier 1 MRP and ERP software applications for purchasing and warehousing; experience with IFS and / or JD Edwards Enterprise One applications would be an asset.
  • Demonstration of exemplary business ethics, integrity and honesty in all situations.
  • Provide input for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced level computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Visio).
  • Ability to work effectively under highly demanding schedules with limited direction and prioritize work.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to build sound working relationships with co-workers and external contacts.
