Reporting to the Associate Director, Enterprise Architect, this position is responsible for partnering with all GTAA departments via engagement on projects in order to ensure the best fit in terms of technological infrastructure and software needs for the business.
The IT Technical Solutions Specialist will provide technical leadership on adhering to enterprise architecture, governance, and overall IT standards and best practices.
As well contribute to the development, maintenance, support and enhancement of IT’s architectural blueprint and technology standards.
Consult with ITM Business Information Solutions during the early development of new airport solutions at the GTAA to understand the technology drivers necessary to meet business requirements
Assume a consultative role to the Project Manager throughout entire project lifecycle, particularly during the scoping, planning, and design stages to ensure that the project stays true to ITM’s architectural blueprint and technology standards.
Wherever possible, map client’s business needs to reusable architectural components
Advise outsourcer(s), vendors and consultants regarding airport / airline processes and details of existing technical solutions.
Advise clients and external suppliers to ensure that proposed design complies with ITM’s architectural blueprint and technology standards, and that it offers maximum value to the GTAA
Draft technology standards, and advise ITM management regarding technical aspects of proposed strategic direction
Inform and work with the Sr. Architect, Data & Information to develop the enterprise architectural blueprint
Actively contribute to project documentation, including Statements of Work (SOWs), architectural descriptions, design documents, and technical specifications from the perspective of technology standards and best practice capabilities.
Critically review and report on completed documents for comprehensiveness, accuracy, compliance with blueprint and standards
Review Requests for Proposal (RFPs) for compliance, gaps, and opportunities related to requested solutions, and contribute critical evaluation criteria for RFP responses
Consult with and attend industry and vendor meetings to influence and evaluate emerging technology trends in order to evaluate potential use in ITM projects
Present findings and proposals to ITM management via one-on-one meetings and group presentations
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering and relevant technology or industry certifications
Minimum five (5) years experience in system architecture
Valid Ontario Driver’s License
Must be able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Broad knowledge of Enterprise-class networks; Windows / Unix platforms; storage area network (SAN); enterprise monitoring solutions;
desktops, laptops, and other mobile devices; Databases, firewalls, anti-virus / anti-spam software, airport line-of-business applications, back-office applications, and common-service applications
Strong understanding of GTAA applications and technologies
Strong understanding of airport business requirements
Strong business acumen and technical knowledge, as well as organizational and political maturity
Knowledge of industry trends in technology, IT architecture, and business solutions
Ability to multi-task between projects
