The opportunity :
The Director, Variable Compensation is a key member of the Finance organization, providing both strategic and transactional leadership for OpenText’s global variable compensation programs.
The Director is expected to develop and leverage key stakeholder business relationships with Human Resources, Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Controllership, and Key Business Stakeholders, to provide advisory services & support, enhancements to programs, policies, procedures, and controls.
The Director works as a member of the Variable Compensation Centre of Excellence (VC COE) committee with specific focus on plan and performance analysis, implementation delivery, compensation design and general consultation.
Overall, the Director is globally responsible for administering and calculating all variable pay including commissions and incentives programs, providing analysis on plan and business performance, and has a voice in plan design and performance.
You are great at :
Lead a global team of Variable Compensation administrative professionals responsible for accurate and timely accruals, calculations, reporting, system administration and maintenance for all compensation-related payments
Develop the vision and annual strategic / financial plan for the VC group setting appropriate goals and metrics to measure group performance
Report, review and seek executive approval on monthly variable compensation payments
Establish and maintain internal policies and procedures preserving security and control over all confidential payroll data
Assure thorough audits and reports are consistently administered in compliance with system policies and government regulations
Provide analytics to assist the monitoring of the effectiveness of existing compensation policies, guidelines and procedures recommending plan revisions as well as new plans that are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and system limitations
Partner with business and corporate leaders, developing a deep understanding of the business model and strategy, talent objectives and compensation practices
Collaborate with Human Resource partners and Operational leaders to ensure the company's various compensation plans, programs and policies efficiently meet needs of the organization
Support the annual compensation life cycle including consulting on changes in compensation policies or practices, incentive plan schedules, processes, modeling and analytics and roll-out communication and training to maximize effectiveness working directly with senior leadership in recommendation and review process
Seek ways to continuously improve, automate and standardization compensation processes to better support new and existing compensation initiatives
What it takes :
5 - 10 years experience working in an organization experiencing a high level of change
5+ years experience cultivating positive working relationships, particularly with senior management
Capability to communicate information clearly at executive levels to facilitate understanding and decision making with a proven ability to assess business risk
Ability to develop a vision and provide strategic directions for plans, systems, practices and tools that support the vision
Ability to generate key business insights through analysis, and the ability to clearly present those insights to the VC COE, Executive Leadership Team, and other key stakeholders
Strong financial analytical and problem solving skills
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
Organized with an ability to balance multiple projects in a fast paced environment
Proven experience in successfully implementing process improvement programs
Some understanding of finance and accounting principles
Direct project management experience is an asset
University degree in Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources or equivalent work experience required; a Master's degree is preferred
