Job Summary

Manager, Strategic Initiatives

Strategic Priorities is a division within the ministry comprised of three branches, Strategic Initiatives, Strategic Services and Strategic Integration.

The Strategic Initiatives Branch is responsible for leadership, coordination and oversight of key ministry program and practice initiatives and is currently responsible for projects under the following priorities : Youth and Young Adult Services and the Prevention and Family Supports Service Framework.

In this role you will manage the development, implementation and evaluation of a new, transformed, or existing core business that involves overseeing a diverse portfolio of major projects and programs within the Child Welfare System.

Projects are taken from original concept through to final completion and will require strong partner engagement and facilitation with senior leaders across government, Indigenous partners and other involved groups.

Strong management, operational expertise and oversight are an asset to this role as many of the programs are delivered by a diverse team in consultation with cross-ministry partners.

Job Requirements :

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below :

  • Degree in business administration, public administration or related field (related field includes public sector, social sector, project management, management and leadership).
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. (Equivalents accepted include : A degree in an unrelated field plus 1 year of recent experience.
  • A diploma in a related field plus 2 years of recent experience. A certificate in a related field plus 3 years of recent experience.)

    Recent experience (within the last 5 years) in all of the following :

  • Experience managing multiple projects or programs or leading a component of a project or program.
  • Experience in directing the work of others.
  • Experience establishing collaborative relationships.
  • Experience engaging and consulting with partners.
  • Experience working in the social service sector of government or in social service sector non-profit organizations
  • Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following :

  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience working with Indigenous clients and partners.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience in change management processes.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience working virtually with colleagues.
  • Preference may be given to applicants who have Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
  • Note : Occasional travel is required for this position (i.e. training, meetings, engagements)
