Position Summary

The Manager Format Strategy will support Walmart Canada’s ongoing development of a store of the future. The successful candidate will partner with a specialized, dedicated team made up of Walmart Canada retail leaders to design, build and adjust our store of the future.

Success means creating the future of retail in Canada.

The successful candidate will consult with business leaders to quantify the opportunity and provide insights that will drive the project forward including but not limited to customer profile, location and size.

The candidate needs to be comfortable :

1) Quantifying complex business challenges

2) Building succinct yet influential stories

3) Building relationships with cross functional partners

4) Digging in where necessary across the team to land the project

Position Responsibilities

  • Construct comprehensive business cases, financial modeling and valuations utilizing all relevant data sources and various modelling methods to support the project team
  • Provide market research and analytics based insights to inform opportunities and risks for the organization, through internal and external sources;
  • including economic outlook, competitor activity, marketplace environment and trends impacting Walmart Canada and its stakeholders

  • Work independently with senior leaders to drive results
  • Create presentations and reports for executive management, and external audiences to enhance strategic decision making and support recommendations
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree required in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Operational Research, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering or related fields)
  • Minimum Years of Experience Required 3 - 5 years; Consulting, M&A and, Investment Banking experience an asset
  • Independent self-starter with a can-do attitude
  • Very strong Excel and PPT skills
  • Strong quantitative and analytics skills, as well as business acumen and sound judgment
  • Knowledge and understanding of broad functional areas / processes and their inter-relationships to design and execute cross-functional programs
  • Ability to build business cases, value investment opportunities
  • Ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Ability to articulate simple messages out of complex issues and substantial amount of data
  • Thrives in a fast-moving environment, with high tolerance for change and ability to adapt
