Our client is a global world class manufacturer with a large and complex production facility in the Western GTA. We are seeking a qualified candidate to staff a Health and Safety Lead position in one of these manufacturing facilities.

This position is responsible for developing, implementing and administering standardized plant health and safety programs to ensure compliance with Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Ministry of Labour Health and Safety Regulations.

The Health and Safety Lead will implement health and safety processes and specifications in all operations, materials and equipment within the plant.

In addition, this position will impact corporate savings through elimination of occupational injuries / illnesses, property damage and improvement of production efficiency as well as safeguarding the health and safety of all employees.

This is a big job. A cultural change in the shop floor environment is a big part of the role. We need a leader / coach / mentor with charisma and a sense of urgency and "edge".

There will be great challenges and a wealth of experience to be gained and as such this opportunity stands to be a career changing breakthrough for the right candidate.

Success in making change here will translate into further advancement to Corporate responsibility or international assignments.

Another potential career path exists to HRM or Industrial Relations Management. A small staff reports to this role.

Required Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Ergonomics, Engineering or related field
  • Min 7 years of broad and deep Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering experience in a unionized large scale or multi-
  • plant manufacturing environment

  • Certified Registered Safety Professional designation is desired or willingness to sit for CRSP within 12 months of hire
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply Ministry of Labour regulations and requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to work any shift and additional hours as required
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • CRSP designation
  • Advanced degree in Industrial Safety or Engineering
  • Working knowledge of World Class Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing or Total Productive System methodology
