Business Need / Purpose of Role

Maintain quality standards and ensure quality requirements for all products fabricated or repaired meet customer / regulatory requirements.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities

Including but not limited to :

  • Inspect products fabricated or repaired to ensure compliance with specifications including, but not limited to, ASME B31.
  • 3, ASME B31.4, ASME BPVC Section VII Div. 1, CSA B51, CWB W59.

  • Complete incoming inspections of materials, rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Complete in-process inspections and communicate results to production supervisors.
  • Complete final inspections and communicate results to production supervisors.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports, travelers and logs as required.
  • Work with customer and / or third-party inspectors.
  • Maintain safe and healthy work environment by ensuring safety procedures and work instructions are followed.
  • Comply with all company / legal regulations and standards.
  • Prepare final quality document packages for submission to customers.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
  • May require shift work.

  • Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

    Education and / or Experience

    5 years or more experience inspecting fabricated steel products (cutting, fitting, welding), reading and interpreting technical drawings, regulatory specifications and customer technical specifications.

    CWB 178.2 Level II Weld Inspector’s ticket with a B31.3 endorsement would be an asset.

    CGSB Magnetic Particle Level II certification would be an asset.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret construction codes, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

    Ability to write reports, business and correspondence in English.

    Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers in English.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills and Measurement Equipment

    Must be proficient in the use of a computer and the following software :

    Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook
