Maitre’d / Wait Staff Full Time
Reporting to the Food and Beverage Manager, as a part of the Culinary Team, the Maitre’d is responsible for assisting in the direction and management of dining room services to all clients and guests while meeting established quality and customer service standards.
The incumbent shall provide dining services through assisting in the supervision of meal delivery and service.
Duties and Responsibilities include :
Performs all duties of the Wait Staff / Server position as required;
Provides leadership in the coordination of dining room staff activities to ensure professional service delivery to clients on a daily basis and for special events;
Supports the development of a quality culture that shapes the values, beliefs and actions of wait staff through the application of a continuous quality improvement philosophy;
Provides leadership and supervises the provision of dining services respecting the client’s right to individualized services;
Assists with food services for special functions ensuring organization, cost efficiency and appropriate staffing is maintained;
Responds to client food service needs and expectations;
Coordinates all meal / beverage charges and submits for proper billing;
Communicates regularly with clients to ensure satisfaction with foodservice;
Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of respecting client’s rights, including : respecting others, maintaining confidentiality, promoting independence, respecting privacy, respecting the right to refuse services and involvement;
Communicates with the Harmony & Wellness Team if there is a noted change in the nutritional status of a client (e.g. decrease in appetite);
Ensures procedures are followed when alcohol is being served if applicable;
Provides on the floor orientation to new staff;
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements include :
High School Diploma or equivalent education;
Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the food and beverage service industry;
Food Handlers Course, Serve Safe and / or other recognized food safety education;
Demonstrated client focus;
Excellent organizational skills;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated leadership skills e.g. interpersonal skills, supervisory skills, problem-solving skills;
Ability to motivate staff members and build a cohesive team;
Ability to manage resources effectively and efficiently;
Ability to work flexible hours and shifts when required.
The following would be considered assets :
Previous supervisory experience in hospitality or health care foodservice;
CPR & Emergency First Aid Certification;
Alzheimer’s Disease and other Dementia Care Course;
Experience using POS software and other essential computer programs;
Previous experience in working with the elderly in long-term care or a seniors independent living environment.
