Payroll Assistant Job Description :

The Payroll Assistant will be responsible for keeping the new hire paperwork compliance audit process up to date, compiling and recording employee time and attendance data, and assisting both the Payroll Coordinator and Payroll Supervisor with special projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • New Hire paperwork processing in Paylocity HR / Payroll system
  • Compile time card adjustments, time off requests and CA meal waiver forms for payroll processing
  • Contact various department supervisors for any missed punches for time and attendance processing.
  • Compliance audit (new hires / promotions / transfers / demotions / terminations)
  • Perform daily payroll department operations
  • Process employee changes
  • Collect banking information for direct deposit setup / address change forms
  • Familiarize and keep current with the Separation payroll laws and labor laws
  • Maintain and document all payroll records
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns
  • File and Maintain employee personnel records on a weekly basis
  • Assist Payroll Coordinator and Payroll Supervisor with special projects
  • REQUIREMENTS :

  • High School Diploma / GED or higher education
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Strong Interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management
  • Decision making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Experience with payroll processing
  • Experience with both exempt and non-exempt employees (900+)
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations across the United States
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Familiarity with Windows-based computer programs a must
  • Retail experience is a plus
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus
