The scope of research and complexity of cases at UHN have made it a national and international source for discovery, education and patient care.

Research across UHN's five research institutes spans the full spectrum of diseases and disciplines, including cancer, cardiovascular sciences, transplantation, neural and sensory sciences, musculoskeletal health, rehabilitation sciences, and community and population health.

Research environments are heavily regulated by a variety of legislations and guidelines from all levels of government, including but not limited to the Canadian Tri-

Agencies (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC), Health Canada, US National Institutes of Health, US Food and Drug Administration, and ICH Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.

The Research Internal Quality Integration Program is instrumental in identifying quality / system strengths and gaps leading to the promotion of systemic, process based solutions.

Working collaboratively with researchers, research support programs and UHN corporate programs, the Research Quality Associate supports the integration of research with the clinical and academic priorities of UHN.

Using principles of adult learning and knowledge of the research environment, regulations, guidelines the Research Quality Associate develops and delivers education and training to the research community in support of research excellence.

Using and expertise in project management, process and program evaluation and LEAN methodology, the Research Quality Associate leads quality initiatives and acts as an expert resource for regulatory and research process issues to the research community and research leadership.

  • Key responsibilities include developing and delivering education and training to the research community using principles of adult education;
  • conducting evaluation of research programs and services; leading development and evaluation of clinical research standards;
  • leading and supporting quality initiatives using project management skills; engaging stakeholders internally across UHN programs and externally with academic and regulatory partners and support business development initiatives.

    Qualifications

  • At minimum Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred
  • At minimum, three years practical and related experience
  • At minimum four years’ clinical research experience
  • Strong experience in developing and delivering education and training programs
  • Strong experience in application of program planning and evaluation methodology
  • Strong process mapping experience, LEAN methodology
  • Strong data management and analysis skills
  • Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Articulate Storyline
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
