You as a Supervisor of Engineering and Building Services will :

Under the direction of the Plant Operations Manager of Engineering & Building Services, the principle duties of the Supervisor is to assist in planning, control and supervision of maintenance work and operation of all base building systems as well as interior and exterior building components in a P3 environment at The Brampton Civic Hospital.

The applicant assumes responsibility of the Manager in his absence, ensuring the continuity of all services through availability of redundant equipment and the shift staff who are employed on a 7 / 24 basis as well as the various tradesmen who provide maintenance and repair service to the physical plant and building’s elements.

  • The applicant ensures daily routine demand tasks and preventive maintenance works are completed on time and meet the contractual Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
  • Will play a key role in the development of preventive maintenance routines, frequencies and schedules, ensures the efficient utilization of manpower, supplies, utilities and equipment in a cost effective manner while providing quality service delivery to all patients, staff and visitors at the hospital.
  • Participate in staff hiring, promotion, demotion and disciplinary process and provides appropriate training to the new employees.
  • Coordinate external contractors work for a variety of repairs and maintenance projects as well as assists in development and control of departmental annual budget and assessing all conditions and modifications to the plant equipment and buildings to identify life cycle capital projects.
  • Minimum education and formal training required for this position :

  • Grade 12
  • Post-secondary college education
  • Valid Building Operator Certificate or trade license (Millwright, Electrician, Plumber or Steam Fitter) or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical and control drawings; knowledge of building automation system, life safety system, electrical systems and HVAC including boiler, chiller, cooling tower, pumps, motors, heat exchanger, AHU, etc.
  • 3 -5 years experience required for this job
