Position Description
A temporary full time (1.0) Intermediate Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023 .
The assignment will be at Baldonnel Elementary School.
Baldonnel Elementary School is a rural K-6 school located 15 minutes from Fort St John and midway between Fort St John and the community of Taylor.
The school has a student population of 110 students, 30% of whom are Indigenous students. Our school has a staffing complement of 10 very dedicated and collegial individuals.
District Itinerant Staff provide a range of services to our school. Our students also participate in the District elementary sports programs, District Band program, and the District Gifted and Enrichment program.

Qualifications and Experience
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students
Experience / qualifications - teaching at the elementary level
Experience with the Wireless Writing Program (WWP)
Ability to provide differentiated instruction at the intermediate level
Cognizant of the learning outcomes and evaluation processes outlined the new curriculum.
Committed to individualized and group instruction, utilizing a variety of effective, research-based strategies and techniques
Ability to differentiate instruction using UDL (Universal Design for Learning) to support varying learning needs
Experience / willingness to utilize technology (ipads / smartboards / WW programs / etc) to facilitate / supplement student learning
Experience teaching in a multi-age group setting
Strong classroom management skills and experience and / or training to support students with special needs such as ADHD / ODD
Ability to work as part of a team to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students with academic, social, emotional learning difficulties, including planning with and for Education Assistants
Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the School Improvement Plan and on professional development, supportive of school planning and direction
Experience and / or a working knowledge of Criterion Based Referencing, Balanced Literacy, Guided Reading / Home Reading Programs and Assessment for Learning strategies
Experience and / or working knowledge of the philosophy and practices of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and Response to Intervention

Compensation
$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
$2,674 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $54,410 - $97,815
Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance.
