Job Title Program Specialist I (Graduate Programs Administrator) Position Details
The School of Graduate Studies invites applications for a Graduate Programs Administrator (Program Specialist I) to commence approximately on August 3, 2020.
This is a temporary AUPE position, ending on approximately October 15, 2021.
Reporting to the School of Graduate Studies Manager, the Graduate Programs Administrator is part of a team that provides exceptional service to uLethbridge faculty, staff, and students.
This position involves a high degree of autonomy, initiative, and independence, and will provide support in areas outlined below.
Governance of graduate activity : Continual improvement to graduate policies and procedures is vital for laying the groundwork for the graduate experience.
Ensuring policies and procedures are clear, accurate, and current allows graduate students to focus on their graduate studies and experiencing many activities of the world-class research at uLethbridge.
This position will serve as a resource to multiple graduate committees and will be a subject matter expert on graduate policies, procedures, and recommended practices related to graduate program management.
The Graduate Programs Administrator is expected to critically understand, monitor, and make recommendations related to policies and processes, and to implement changes to documents as they are approved.
Program advising : The Graduate Programs Administrator will work with students, faculty, and staff to navigate the complexities that may arise during a graduate student’s program (e.
g., Leave of Absence, program transfers, and referrals to other student services on campus). The person in this position will initiate and maintain robust relationships within the uLethbridge community that support collaboration and problem solving.
Student support : The School of Graduate Studies has a mission to help our students thrive. The Graduate Programs Administrator assists with graduate admissions, advises students about program requirements, and proactively supports students who encounter difficulties in their programs through monitoring of student milestones and regular communication.
The position will also complete degree audits and guide students through degree completion requirements. The person in this position will also participate in various uLethbridge events, including orientation, webinars, and student recruitment events.
Fostering relationships within the uLethbridge community is vital to the success of this position.
Starting Salary Range : $4,597.00-$5,206.00 per month
Education : A master’s degree is required. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered (e.g., an undergraduate degree with knowledge of graduate education).
Experience : A minimum of two years university-level experience is preferred, ideally with involvement in graduate programming.
Experience with advising, admissions, program management, and / or graduate administration are considered assets.
