About the Opportunity
Currently, Thurber has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with 15+ years of local consulting experience to join their team in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan .
As our Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will work on projects with the backing of our senior engineering team to support our clients.
More specifically your responsibilities will include :
Provide technical support and leadership on projects and for staff, including conducting technical reviews of calculations and analyses, as well as performing technical analyses where appropriate;
Provide guidance, and where necessary, support in coordination, preparation of cost estimates, tender submissions, technical documentation, client reports, progress reports, project scheduling / resourcing, and meeting deadlines and budgets on projects;
Scoping projects and assisting in the preparation of proposals;
Supporting mentoring, coaching and training of staff;
Work with the Branch Manager in the development of new business opportunities;
Establishing, developing, promoting and maintaining relationships with clients;
Active participation in the field on a project specific basis as dictated by the needs of the project to meet client expectations and project objectives; and,
Manage projects and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Completion of a post-secondary program in Civil or Geological Engineering;
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the Geotechnical or Geological Engineering field. Local Canadian experience strongly preferred;
Class 5 Drivers license;
Comfortable driving mid to full-sized pickup trucks in urban, rural, and construction environments;
Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including local and remote construction sites;
Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required; and,
Eligible for membership with APEGS.
Graduate Degree (Masters or higher) preferred;
Foundation analysis and design;
Slope stability analysis;
Geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring;
Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet and word-processing); and,
Ability to work independently and cooperate with a team in various environment.
Criminal Record Check may be conducted;
Drug and alcohol testing may be required prior to accessing client sites; and,
3 Year Driver’s Abstract and a Claims Experience Letter will be requested.
