Degree in Mechanical or Chemical / Process Engineering

Approx 10 - 15 years of experience in design and implementation of combustion related projects, including process design and process equipment sizing

Exposure to the process industry including Power, Cogeneration and heating facilities

Knowledge of the integration of mechanical, electrical and control components

Knowledge of P&ID, material / heat balance, HAZOP analysis

Knowledge of mechanical equipment sizing, i.e., pumps, fans, heat exchangers, pipes and similar equipment

Knowledge of process applications and regulations of industrial combustion appliances including but not limited to boilers, process furnaces, rotary kilns, ASME, NFPA, API etc.

Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario

Strong communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills

Excellent telephone and email etiquette

Quotations / estimating

To receive and evaluate requests from clients,

Participate in preparation of project budgets and contract proposal.

Create preliminary schedule and present proposal and schedule to client

Work Planning

Review project scope and compare with client specifications and expectations

Review equipment design and ensure to meet project requirements

Review equipment budgets and proposed suppliers.

Prepare project schedule and communicate with client.

Perform periodic reviews on suppliers, to maintain quality and good working schedule.

Participate with the design team for best practice for the supply and install plan.

Customer Relations

Communications with client, for design and process expectation

Attend weekly meeting w

Participate in customer meetings.

Review customers’ plans and suggest modifications or alternatives as required.

Perform periodic visit on site, during construction,

Participate on site during commissioning and start-up.

Provide problem solving ideas as needed.

Ensure that the customer’s security requirements are met.

Follow up with customers at the completion of the job to ensure needs have been met and the client is satisfied.

Supervision

Enforce health and safety rules.

Supervises junior engineer

Supervises design sub-contractors, when applicable.

Encourage teamwork and help boost employee morale.

Authority :

To immediately require that employees and contractors stop dangerous or unsafe work.

To enforce health and safety requirements within the department.

To require that poor quality workmanship be corrected.
