Program : Spiritual Care offers many services and activities geared to meeting the spiritual needs of patients and caregivers. Everyone is welcome.
Volunteer Resources : The mission of Volunteer Resources is to promote a culture of excellence that supports meaningful volunteer engagement that in turn provides exceptional experiences for our patients, volunteers and staff.
Position : The role of the Spiritual Care Support Volunteer is to assist UHN Spiritual Care staff or Community Clergy in escorting previously identified / interested patients to and from weekly programs and assisting in preventing patients from wandering from the designated area.
Assist with set up and clean-up of supplies for various programs
Assist in escorting previously identified / interested patients to and from the program
Create a safe and calm environment for the patients during programs
Ensure that patients do no wander from the designated area
Return of patient lists to designated area or in confidential shredding bin
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to show respect and understanding for patients and caregivers
Comfortable working with patients from all of the inpatient units
Spiritual sensitivity to people of varying faiths
Sensitivity towards patient needs and requests
Ability to take initiative, accept detailed direction and feedback when it is indicated and work independently
A patient, calm, mature, self-confident and responsible individual
Energy, enthusiasm and commitment towards this service
Reliable and responsible with a firm commitment to assigned schedule
Shifts : 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, 3 : 00pm-4 : 30pm (assisting with Catholic Mass)
