Your role :

As a Systems Administrator at Thinking Capital, you own and support the needs of Thinking Capital network and system infrastructure.

You're highly technical and work directly with other server and security owners to ensure reliability and sustainability of the service infrastructure as well as compliance with internal policies.

Success in this role means you are able to support servers and networks in a mixed operating system environment and work efficiently with our internal technology providers as well as other operations groups.

Thinking Capital will rely on your guidance when it comes to design decisions, so you'll have a direct impact in keeping the business productive.

As part of the IT team you will assist in bringing SRE and cloud technologies to new technology disciplines beyond the traditional areas these techniques have encountered in the past.

You have a knack for digging deep to solve problems with a penchant for elegant, scalable, and maintainable solutions. Automation will be a key to success in this position as will the ability to pick up and understand new tools and technologies.

Your tasks :

  • Act as a point of reference within the team, particularly with other administrator(s) and IT support;
  • Install and maintain various network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls and load balancers;
  • Deploy and maintain private network links and dedicated peering;
  • Assist in evaluating new requirements, technical design and standards;
  • Participate to the definition of standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics as directed;
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network infrastructure and services;
  • Enforce network security policies and procedures;
  • Perform proactive network capacity management activities;
  • Maintain documentation regarding network hardware and software;
  • Assist in evaluating new requirements, technical design and standards;
  • Answer user’s query and service requests;
  • Contribute to the planning of the evolution and expansion of the network & systems;
  • Optimize network performance;
  • Carry out all other related tasks.

  • Qualifications

    We want to hear from you if you have the following skillset :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience;
  • Strong knowledge of configuration, management and maintenance of Windows Server 2012 / 2016
  • Strong knowledge of AWS EC2, S3, VPC, etc.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Strong Network knowledge
  • Knowledge of OS deployment and software packaging (Mac and Windows)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL, Administration and Maintenance
  • Expertise in Office 365, Google Business Suite
  • Knowledge of Linux OS Administration is an asset
  • Bilingual (English and French) written and spoken.
