QE Home Quilts Etc is a Burnaby-based designer bedding retailer with over 70 stores across the country and a fast-growing e-commerce business.

Proudly Canadian and family-owned since 1992, we are passionate about providing our customers with affordable, beautiful bedding, along with exceptional customer service and product knowledge.

We’re currently looking to hire a creative, strategic thinking Junior Front-End Web Developer to join our growing team and help us achieve our mission to design a better sleep for all Canadians.

You will work collaboratively with our web and marketing teams to implement new content and features on our fast-growing eCommerce site, QEHomeLinens.com.

Responsibilities & Experience

  • Turn our creative team’s designs into well-built HTML and CSS.
  • Optimize our website features and pages for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Spot bugs and barriers to a smooth user experience and come up with practical solutions.
  • Research and integrate new technologies and features to optimize our website for usability and SEO.
  • Take on and own additional projects and responsibilities as the need arises.
  • Meet multiple deadlines and complete assignments in a timely manner.
  • Support team members on various projects as needed.
  • Able to take initiative and solve development problems with limited supervision.
  • Prior experience with content management systems such as BigCommerce, WooCommerce, or Shopify.
  • 1-2 years experience working on a B2C eCommerce website
  • Technical Skills

  • Write and test well structured, responsive, reusable front-end code with a mobile-first mentality.
  • Test and integrate all code with existing code base and templates.
  • Coding languages : HTML, CSS, server-side CSS.
  • Practical knowledge of modern JS frameworks, like JQuery, Angular, and Bootstrap.
  • Experience with web services, like JSON and REST.

  • Strong understanding and passion for UI / UX concepts.
  • A foundational understanding of how to maintain good SEO.
  • Soft Skills

  • Applicants must include a portfolio / examples of previous work with a résumé.
  • Education

    Diploma or Degree in Computer Science or a similar technical degree in Front-End Development or Interactive Design

    Core Hours : 9 : 00 5 : 30

    Position Details

    This is a full-time position, and there is the opportunity to work from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ability to commute / relocate : South Burnaby, BC (Preferred)
