Powell Contracting Ltd . has been a leader in the industry by providing Southern and Central Ontario with the supply and installation of temporary concrete barriers, noise barriers, crash cushions, guide rails, ground mount signs, overhead signs and sign structures.

The SR&ED specialist drafts and submits funding applications on behalf of Powell Group of Companies and manages all reporting, documentation and communication requirements from project concept to completion for Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) projects, government grants and incentives.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and submit SR&ED applications in a timely and effective manner
  • Managing SR&ED claims and other engineering / financial special projects
  • Research and identify grant opportunities relevant to Powell’s needs
  • Complete grant-related reporting requirements, including project summaries that clearly and concisely communicate the scientific advancements attempted or achieved
  • Develop a comprehensive and prioritized plan of Powell’s funding opportunities
  • Maintain a calendar of submission deadlines and other important milestones
  • Meet with organizational leaders and technical personnel to identify experimental development versus routine development
  • Audit internal documentation and knowledge transfer processes to suggest optimal approaches for capturing information
  • Maintain accurate records of grant applications
  • Perform other duties assigned by management
  • Qualifications :

  • A college or university post-secondary education in Engineering, Finance, or equivalent job-related experience
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in SR&ED claims preparation
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Technical business writing
  • Tax Analyst and Controller experience considered an asset
  • Demonstrated success writing, submitting, and procuring grants and SR&ED incentives
  • Demonstrated experience taking initiative to address challenges or realize opportunities
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Must be highly motivated to continuously improve in a busy work environment
