Key Responsibilities :
Evaluates mechanical, optic mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs;
applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials.
Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility
Designs and build complex test fixtures for sensor product process and test
Generates engineering documentation including drawings, bills of materials, assembly instructions, etc.
Conducts design reviews and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA)
Communicates with component suppliers and internal supply chain to source mechanical components
Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and system capabilities; confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests.
Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government and industry regulations.
Completes projects by training and guiding technicians.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Qualifications and Skills Required :
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
5-10 years of related experience in design and product development
Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of BC.
Experience with one or more of the following : thermal / mechanical stress modeling, design of precision mechanical and positioning systems, optoelectronic sensors development
High degree of proficiency in SolidWorks
Excellent technical, analytical, problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
Excellent track record of delivering high quality work under tight time constraint
with a proven ability to collaborate with team members in a fast-paced multi-disciplined environment
