With legislated authority and responsibilities, your expertise and leadership skills in the areas of population and public health, planning, evaluation, research and program development as well as resource management will be key to improved population health and quality of services.

You will collaborate with FH Medical Health Officer’s senior executives, physicians and staff, other Health Regions, the BC Center for Disease Control, the Ministry of Health, the Health Officers Council of BC, and various advisory and policy subcommittees at local and provincial levels.

A dedicated focus on quality in public health, experience in a matrix organizational structure and a track record in building and enhancing effective partnerships with academic institutions, professional associations and other community and clinical settings are competencies key to this dynamic and pivotal role.

Superb communication and presentation skills will enhance your opportunities to champion initiatives in support of Fraser Health’s strategic goals and objectives.

This position will involve oversight of PPH programs, and direct supervision of four teams : the South Asian Health Institute, the Health Equity and Public Health Unit, the Public Health Observatory, and a team of Medical Health Officers / Medical Directors.

The position will be based out of Central City in Surrey, BC. Specific duties are determined by the Chief Medical Health Officer in accordance with the needs of Fraser Health and the Province and changed as required.

We are seeking a dynamic and expert leader to implement state of the art strategies to support and improve the overall health of the people who work, live, study, and visit Fraser Health.

Are you motivated to join us? We will be looking for you to have :

  • A Medical Doctor degree with current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in Public Health and Preventive Medicine; or
  • Current licensure with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with a Community Medicine designation and eligibility to be licensed with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia in Public Health and Preventive Medicine.
  • Current BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle for business-related purposes.
  • Your Professional / Technical Capabilities will include :

  • Demonstrated senior leadership in roles to lead and move forward complex organizational change issues across health service programs to support broad transformational objectives.
  • Ability to incorporate program needs within the broader context of the health delivery system and multiple program requirements.
  • Leadership within a matrix reporting structure.
  • Sound working knowledge of planning concepts related to service delivery, budgetary, staffing, quality and strategic initiatives.
  • Current knowledge of Communicable Disease Control, Environmental Health, Health Promotion, Surveillance & monitoring, epidemiology, and Public Health Legislation in British Columbia.
