The Opportunity : Resource Manager

The Resource Manager has joint responsibility for Resource Management (RM) across our Risk Assurance practice nationally, which includes the assignment of staff and managers at all levels.

The objective is to align individual career development and preferences with client engagement needs as well as the financial objectives of the business.

Coaching and oversight from Risk Assurance RM Senior Manager is provided to the team to ensure the proper functioning of Resource Management.

This role will be based within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to enable close partnering with business leadership and is an exciting opportunity to support an aggressively growing part of our practice, which encompasses a multitude of skills such as Internal Audit, Cyber Security, Data Assurance and others.

Assignment of Resources

  • Enable and ensure the effective scheduling and assignment of Client Service Staff (CSS) resources in Risk Assurance, to contribute to meeting the planned business metrics.
  • Proactive management and scheduling of resources to meet Firm utilization targets with primary focus on staff leverage and peak season metrics through the use of continuous planning activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with Staff Planning process and business objectives.
  • Resolution of unassigned work and staff conflicts.
  • Strategic staffing of individuals on various client and non-client engagements.
  • Developing and managing staff programs to address development needs and opportunities.
  • Flexible Time Away (FTA) and vacation approval.
  • Monitoring of Workload Management (WLM) and re-balancing of workloads when required.
  • Proactive management of staff availability, including communication to all regional counterparts as necessary.
  • Collaboration and teaming with other RM professionals.
  • Financial Reporting

  • Analyze productivity reports and provide recommendations on the appropriate action plan (e.g. workload balancing, improvement of utilization, etc.
  • or activities required.

  • Provide recommendations and solutions on various operational matters including workload management and strategic staffing decisions.
  • Preparation or review of ad-hoc reporting requests from local or National Leadership.
  • Responsible for headcount reporting and management.This includes managing and reporting on headcount compared to Plan and Prior Year using the Workforce Planning Tool and ensuring data integrity.
  • People Management

  • Maintain knowledge of client base, staff skill set, industry experience, preferences and development needs to ensure appropriate allocation of staff resources to client engagements.
  • Teaming with local Partner Leadership and HC, assist in the development of action plans to meet the firm’s goals related to work life flexibility, talent mapping, and mobility as they relate to resource management.
  • Liaison with the other lines of service on borrowing / lending, and staffing requests.
  • Liaison and collaboration with National RM team members to share best practices and aim for continuous improvement.
  • Liaison and collaboration with other HC teams, including HR and L&D, as it relates to RM activities.
  • Develop sound working knowledge of RM technology, including TalentLink Staffing & Deployment, supporting assignment planning allocations, forecasting and reporting.

  • Requirements :

  • Ability to analyse data, interpret findings and provide insight to leadership;
  • Experience coaching teams, ensuring an understanding, commitment and thought leadership approach to all HC operational and service activity;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (both oral and written), negotiate and influence effectively, consult with others, build relationships, facilitate group discussions, and execute on change management activities;
  • Excellent judgment and strong problem solving skills, including the ability to analyze and understand the business impact of relevant options;
  • Ability to manage complex projects while thinking strategically & creatively;
  • Ability to deal confidently with Partners, managers and all staff levels in a professional manner, recognizing the confidential nature of the work at all times;
  • High energy and the flexibility to perform under time constraints to meet deadlines;
  • Strong sense of professionalism, integrity, sound judgment and tact; self-confident with the ability to make decisions;
  • Demonstrated ability to follow process with agility to make changes as required.
