What can you expect in this role?

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Review all assigned property subrogation files and analyze for subrogation potential and determine the ultimate probable outcome of recovery
Ability to identify all potential tort feasors with knowledge of legal doctrines and case law that can apply in each file for recovery
Prepare files and subrogation documents as well as the ability to determine the amount of recovery from the file material and the systems used ( Xactimate, Autosource, ISB, CDS)
Locate and contact the third party, third party insurers or lawyers to initiate settlement negotiations
Manage a large volume of property subrogation claims files and other special subrogation projects
Review and prepare subrogation files for the litigation program including managing the expenses, budgeting and providing instructions to counsel
Participate in legal proceedings when required
Collaborate with claims partners for early identification & investigation of high potential subrogation claims
Knowledge of legal proceedings and ability to prepare files for legal proceedings when required
Research and compile information for presentations and newsletters to be provided to all claims offices across Canada, on various topics relating to subrogation
Consult and provide direction on subrogation file handling to the team and claims office nationally
What do you bring to the role?
University degree or a 2 year college diploma or the CIP designation.
Mandatory 2+ years of intermediate level property claims handing experience required with property subrogation handling experience preferable
Negotiation and litigation experience with adjusters, third parties and counsel considered an asset
Liability claims experience is an asset
Bilingual in French and English would be an asset
