Job Description

The incumbent manages independently, projects with a high risk profile and a high level of complexity. Management direction or executive oversight is provided as necessary.

Incumbent may indirectly manage a cross-LoB Project team consisting of Business Analysts, Business SMEs and Technology Resources where applicable to the project.

  • Ensures successful delivery of project and owns outcomes that are aligned to established cost, timing, deliverable, and scope objectives
  • Establishes effective project oversight and other governance bodies, and engages the correct levels to support the direction for the project
  • Provides on-going communication to key stakeholders, including the Project Sponsor, Business Project Owner, Program Manager and Portfolio Manager to ensure they are aware of significant changes to the project status in a timely manner
  • Applies Organizational Change Management principles and practices in order to effectively manage the people side of change (e.
  • g., stakeholder analysis, business process management, people readiness, sustainment planning, etc.)

  • Proactively identifies and tracks project risk and develops mitigation plans to manage risk (i.e., risk related to technology, change management, procurement, business process management, requirements management)
  • Adheres to enterprise project gating and governance controls to ensure that projects meet all the performance, quality and compliance standards and conforms to appropriate methodology
  • Oversees the scope during the course of the project and collaboratively adjusts scope where necessary ensuring adherence to established project change management processes
  • Identifies all project dependencies, ensuring that they are effectively managed
  • Develops, monitors and tracks project plans throughout project lifecycle
  • Generates cost estimates and provides general financial management, incorporating risk
  • Manages resource and capacity management process for assigned projects
  • Ensures the project benefits realization process is followed throughout the life of the project
  • Supports vendor management and strategic sourcing process, managing RFP activities and partnering with vendor(s) to ensure efficient and effective project delivery
  • Indirectly manages a cross LoB Project team consisting of Business Analysts, Requirements SMEs, Business SMEs and Technology Resources where applicable to the project
  • Coaches, leads and mentors project team members and provides regular performance assessments to employees and their people managers
  • Job Requirements

    Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures and principles of project management

  • Exposure to financial management with respect to tracking, forecasting and managing project budgets.
  • Ability to make an impact, influence and achieve results with effective negotiation, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Strong facilitation skills

  • Strong leadership skills lead by example, champion change and develop a highly motivated team to consistently exceed expectations
  • Good judgment ability to determine which issues to escalate vs. to resolve independently, and provide suggestions for possible resolution
  • Specific Educational Requirements / Accreditations :

  • College / University or equivalent work experience within the Bank
  • Other related educational credentials including PMP or other project management certifications an asset
