Our client is a Canadian, employee-owned civil engineering firm with 30 years of experience, specializing in Structural, Land Development, Municipal Infrastructure, Transportation, Water Resources and Water & Wastewater engineering with application to new and re-developed commercial, industrial, residential and recreational properties.

They are seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join their team in either Barrie or Orillia, Ontario.

Job Duties :

Conducting engineering investigations and preparing reports detailing observations and recommendations

Preliminary and final design of municipal, institutional, commercial, industrial and residential structures using wood, timber, concrete, masonry and steel

Preparing contract documents (drawings and specifications)

Contract administration and construction review

Providing structural assistance to other departments and branches within the company

Maintaining existing client base and business development to expand the client base including preparing technical proposals, and developing scope of work and fee estimates

Mentoring junior staff and quality control of work by junior staff

Liaison with clients, architects, building officials, municipal and provincial approval agencies

Qualifications :

5 to 10 years of experience and a minimum 2 years in a consulting environment

Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code

Computer literate with knowledge of structural analysis and design software

Previous experience with short to medium span bridges and other municipal civil infrastructure would be an asset

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
