This position is for MSM, a division of Magna Powertrain.Magna Powertrain, an operating unit of Magna International, is a premier supplier for the global automotive industry with full capabilities in powertrain design, development, testing and manufacturing.

Maintains and produces CAD files to support current and new projects.
Provides industrial design service including product concept generation, presentation materials, engineering and manufacturing process support.
Part proposal drawings : 2D and 3D concept visualization starting from rough design concepts up to detail / final drawings.
Responsible for all drawing information including : tolerance / fits, GDT specifications and surface finishes to required standards.
Carries out the design and development required to achieve project objective within budget.
Specify requests and coordinates all sub-contracted CAD work (i.e. FEA’s, Product Validation and Testing, CAD drawing file conversion) and assure timely completion.
Develops and maintains part interim stage drawings.
Designs fixtures, tools, gauges, molds and dies.
Designs new and / or improve production machines and tooling.
Responsible for all pertinent drawings and parts list. Maintains and updates CAD files library.
Ensures design sketches / concepts are in compliance with Health, Safety, & Environmental legislation / best practices.
Responsible for activities related to assigned projects, as per procedures (i.e. APQP, Design FMEA’s).
Prepares a work schedule with interim and end target estimates for all projects within his / her responsibility.
Available for discussion in setting up for initial production runs, and as requested in resolving production problems on new products.
Maintains proper filing system to ensure all information are properly stored and easily retrieved.
Provides engineering support to other departments within the company as directed by the Engineering Manager and / or Assistant General Manager.
Performs other assignments from time to time as management so directs.
Complies and participates in monthly Health & Safety quiz.
Complies and participates with suggestions and Continuous Improvement Program at MSM.
Observes standards for safe working conditions as outlined in the Occupational health & Safety Act as well as rules and regulations outlined in the employee handbook.
Knowledge and Education
Bachelors Degree in a related field i.e. engineering, engineering technology, or equivalent
Minimum 2 years CAD design experience in a Mechanical Engineering environment
Experience in Draft Sight, Solid Works, CAD Key design software.
Experience with flowform and stamping tool design or related tool & die experience
Experience with the appropriate utilization of GD&T
DFA (Design for assembly), DFM (Design for manufacturing), DOE (Design of experiments) knowledge required
Experience with tolerance studies or appropriate alternatives
Previous experience using design FMEA’s
Must be able to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English
Must have good organizational skills, be a self-starter, team player and an active listener
