Squamish Nation consists of 23 villages and is comprised of descendants of the Coast Salish Aboriginal people who live in the present day Greater Vancouver area, Gibson’s Landing, and Squamish River watershed.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in North Vancouver .
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, Service Delivery, the primary responsibility of this position is to manage financial statement audits for the Nation and its subsidiaries.
Under the direction of the manager and with input from the Director, the incumbent assumes responsibility for preparation of the Nation’s project and capital asset budget and related amendments, performs advanced ongoing and year-
end accounting duties, coordinates and prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for distribution to Directors and Council.
As a Chartered Professional Accountant, the incumbent has a strong understanding of various accounting frameworks including International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to :

Participates as team member in the preparation of personal income tax returns for Squamish Nation member. Runs monthly integrity reports and resolves any issues, oversees development of ad-
hoc financial reports for departments as requested and prepares monthly financial reports for funders. Completes journal entries relevant to scope of work.
Prepares monthly financial statements for distribution to Directors and Council.
Prepares audit working papers and manages external auditors. Liaises with the Project Administrator and Administrative Trustee and is responsible for setting up new projects / business units.
Prepares monthly fixed asset reconciliation and works with departments and accounting team to resolve issues as they arise.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
In addition, the ideal candidate will also have :
secondary institution plus a Professional Accounting Designation (i.e. CPA, ACCA.).
