In order to carry out his / her duties, the incumbent supervises all aspects of the work being performed on site to meet the targeted timelines and budgets for the awarded contracts.
Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to the followingOperations Management Provide technical support, maintenance and services related to ships, including dry dock and investigations.
Respect the budget for ship operations in cooperation with the ship manager and monitor actual costs
Collaborate with production managers to complete performance evaluations, probationary and other, foremen.Ensure that all foremen are provided with a development plan to ensure that they have the necessary capabilities to effectively carry out their roles and responsibilities, work in a safe and cooperative manner while following agreed standard operating procedures.
Respond appropriately to any violation of the OHS policy and immediately notify the OHS team of the problem.Respond appropriately to actions that require disciplinary actions by working with production management, human resources and OHS, as required.
Required Skills & Knowledge for this role include but are not limited to the following Post-secondary education in an appropriate field that is relevant to the positionExperience in a shipbuilding / ship repair environmentExperience in a unionized workplaceTime management and delegation skillsBe customer-orientedCapacity to manage and motivateGood knowledge of the MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Good interpersonal skills to develop strong relationships with shipyard staff and ship owners.
Successfully complete the investigation and security clearance process required by the Federal Government Contract Security Program.
