Why is this role important?

The Senior Analyst, Merchandising Planning & Analytics is accountable for supporting the Market Division Merchandising team in achieving overall corporate budgets by optimizing planning efficiencies to aid in driving profitable sales and market share increases.

Accountabilities :

Creation and maintenance of weekly promotional sales and profit reporting for the business

Promotional sell-through reporting with predictive profitability impacts to Category

Promotional optimization reporting identifying risks and opportunities to be addressed with the business unit

Collaboration with both Regional and Category Teams to ensure alignment of strategic promotional needs to help drive the bottom line

Decision Support / Analytics :

Ad hoc analytics required to support the development of immediate and long term strategic plans to improve overall market share, sales and profit

Work with Category teams to solve a variety of problems, related to areas such as pricing, demand planning, assortment, costing, forecasting, loyalty, and customer buying behavior

Annual / Quarterly Planning Analysis :

Lead the quarterly planning process by creating plans that align to long-term strategies, balancing out with Category promotional needs in the near term

Review of prior year to ensure adequate promotional activity is covered off to mitigate potential sales and profit risks for the quarter

Role Requirements :

  • Post-secondary education in economics / business / finance or any other quantitative field
  • Previous experience in retail operations, merchandise planning, and analytics is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in project management
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Detail oriented and strong time management skills
  • Strong analytical background
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office products
  • Knowledge of MS Access, SQL, Python, VBA is an asset
