Senior DevOps Engineer

What is the opportunity?

The Senior DevOps Engineer will be responsible for delivering services and enhancing processes to move the Digital team to Continuous Delivery.

The candidate will be responsible for updating and maintaining our Pipeline code and deployment tooling as well as training and pairing with our development community to encourage contributions.

You will be responsible for delivering high quality, testable code to ensure we maintain high availability of our DevOps tooling and continue to deliver features to the teams.

You will need to update, maintain and improve the overall DevOps platforms we use to support the teams on the move towards Continuous Delivery.

We are moving towards community driven feature development; you will be responsible to provide teams training and best practices around pipeline usage and enhancements.

This role is accountable to our DevOps Manager and will work closely with all our tech leads and development teams to improve how we operate across the program.

What will you do?

  • Learn Pipeline and Deploy end to end as well all the tooling involved to understand where improvements can be made and how to implement them.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on all things DevOps related within the Digital channel.
  • Consult with our tech leads and development teams to determine gaps and feature requests to add to our backlog.
  • Work in an agile environment and contribute to our team best practices, retros and standups to continuously improve how we work.
  • Develop features and commit code frequently to keep changes small and minimize risk when implementing.
  • Keep up to date with industry standards and best practices around DevOps and the various tooling available.
  • Effectively communicates and builds rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.
  • Resolves conflicts / issues of medium complexity and escalates others as appropriate.

  • DevOps tooling knowledge (Github, Jenkins, SonarQube, Checkmarx, UrbanCode Deploy)
  • Build tooling knowledge (maven, nx, npm)
  • Groovy and Typescript
  • Kubernetes knowledge
  • Experience in Agile
  • Nice to Have

  • Spring Boot, node, nginx
  • Cloud Foundry experience
  • OpenShift experience
  • Dynatrace / Splunk knowledge
