We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Controls Project Manager to join our team in Ottawa .

The Controls Project Management role encompasses a wide range of duties, some of which include managing labour, purchasing, administration, cost control, supplier and subcontractor coordination, communication, scheduling, pricing of change orders, financial ownership of your projects, establishing and managing client relationships.


  • Actively participate and contribute in estimating turnover, and pre-construction meetings
  • Support the project by developing a strong working relationship with the installation team and provide project execution guidance
  • Effectively manage the labour work force on your respective project
  • Coordinate the engineering of projects with the engineering division
  • Review and approve the design of control systems and project specific drawings
  • Work closely with and support our installation sub-trades and / or staff with respect to project execution. This includes site systems layout and co-ordination
  • In coordination with the Electrical Labor Manager and Construction Managers ensure that Field Technicians and Electricians are on site when required to maintain schedules
  • Complete detailed and accurate monthly financial forecasting reports and participate in our project status review (PSR) meetings
  • Build and strengthen subcontractor and supplier relationships; review contracts for scope, maintain productivity, quality, and costs and ensure the projects are completed in a manner that supports the overall strategic and operational objectives of the company
  • Willing to advance both professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and seminars, review professional publications, establish a personal network of industry peers, and be highly motivated to benchmark state-of-the-art practices
  • Participate in client and construction meetings as required and to disseminate the information to our work force and subcontractors

  • Multiple years of experience working as a Project Manager within Controls
  • 7-12 years of related experience with 5+ years working experience
  • Ability to interpret site and building plans and specifications
  • Experience project managing large commercial, institutional controls construction projects
  • Previous experience working on large controls projects over $1M highly desirable, but not required
  • Experience and / or familiarity with Niagara platform is a strong asset
  • Experience with Distech is ideal
  • Can successfully prioritize tasks based on demand and deadlines
  • Results and solutions oriented individual
  • A track record that clearly demonstrates effective leadership when interacting with multiple external clients
  • Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions
  • Fundamental understanding of project financial controls
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively
  • Ability to work autonomously with frequent travel to site locations
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • General understanding of QA / QC as well as Health and Safety practices / requirements
  • Design / build experience is an asset
  • Committed team player with excellent interpersonal skills
