Position Overview :

Do you find yourself promoting the effective use of new and existing technology, and enjoy troubleshooting IT related concerns?

Look no further! The IT Coordinator will provide front line support and respond to service desk incidents and requests. The successful candidate will support IT infrastructure including servers, virtual infrastructure, PC’s, thin clients, voice, and data networks.

As well as support IT infrastructure projects such as, obsolescence and system upgrades to improve capabilities.

The IT Coordinator will report to the IMP Group Ltd. Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.

Key Areas of responsibility :

Shall include, but are not limited to the following :

  • Timely response and resolution of Service Desk calls and planned work requests. Manage such items through to resolution or escalate as required.
  • Knowledge of NIST cyber security framework or similar would be an asset.
  • Support and monitor existing infrastructure, perform preventative maintenance work, system backups and perform other regular support activities as required.
  • Work effectively in a team environment by openly sharing information, ideas, or concerns and giving constructive feedback to help ensure the team is successful.
  • Maintain documentation of IT Infrastructure to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform health checks and monitor alerts and respond / fix issues.
  • Liaise with external suppliers and support agencies for the ongoing support and maintenance of relevant hardware and software.
  • Ensure that all work and changes are performed in such a way as to minimize all disruption to existing business use.
  • Adhere to IT administrative directives as per ADs and other associated company procedures.
  • Build effective working relationships with local and corporate IT support, as well as business line personnel.
  • After hours support, as required.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Position requirements :

  • Diploma in IT System Administration or equivalent.
  • Motivated individual with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies and implement them.
  • Strong knowledge of computers, servers, and IT infrastructure.
  • Excellent customer service skills, striving to improve services to meet customer and business needs.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and initiative in looking for root causes.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 8S activities in your area.
  • Incumbents must be able to pass and maintain Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) and Transport Canada security clearances.
  • The successful applicants will be eligible to meet requirements for the U.S. International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP)
