We have an immediate opportunity for a Junior Project Manager / Intermediate-Senior Field Supervisor (Site Investigation & Remediation) to join our dynamic Environmental Services team in British Columbia.
As a key member of the team, your technical knowledge and extensive field experience will allow you to develop your skills as a project manager, mentor and lead more junior personnel.
This position will be responsible for completing project management tasks of various projects, coordinating detailed reliable field data collection, providing direction to contractors, and working with project management to address client’s needs.
Your Key Responsibilities
This is a unique position working as a Junior PM on large and / or complex projects, supporting field programs where your extensive field knowledge and experience are required, and working towards independent management of your own projects.
Actively participate in promoting a strong health and safety culture in the team.
Under the supervision of a Senior PM, you will perform project management tasks such as scope development, cost estimates, contract initiation, project setup, field coordination, budget tracking, resourcing, schedule development, driving deliverables, and the execution of contaminated sites projects.
Organize and oversee field programs, including subcontractor agreements, scheduling, equipment resourcing, etc.
Scheduling of field staff and contractors.
Lead complex field investigations, when required, for projects such as Stage 2 PSI / DSI, remediation projects; as well as applications under the BC Contaminated Sites Regulations for regulatory instruments including Approvals in Principal and Certificate of Compliance.
Provide mentorship and training to more junior field staff.
Work with leadership to continually assess the direction of the practice through technical initiatives.
Collaborate across disciplines including Indoor Environments, Environmental Assessment disciplines, Geotechnical, Atmospheric Sciences, and Water Resources across Stantec Canada offices.
Occasionally participating in marketing and business development meetings.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Minimum of five years of related experience in contaminated sites, delivering outstanding technical solutions on projects, ideally within British Columbia.
Strong communication and organization skills are essential.
A strong affinity for teamwork, training / mentoring junior, intermediate and senior office and field staff is also essential for this position.
Superior and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of the various provincial and federal environmental regulations and guidelines.
Education and Experience
A Degree (Bachelor or Master's) in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology or Engineering.
A professional designation or demonstrated eligibility for (, , , , Bio.) is considered an asset.
