The mandate of this new team will be to work collaboratively with RTG IP teams to optimize our designs for physical implementation in order to drive material improvements in power, performance and area (PPA).
The role will require the candidate to be the hands-on technical leader of a small team of physical design experts to develop best practices related to physical design, to iterate with several RTL design teams to provide feedback on the design with respect to PD friendliness, and help to drive learning in architecture, coding styles, synthesis methodology etc.
The team will not be responsible for the final physical design implementation (which will be owned by SOC teams), but rather will be a center of excellence responsible for defining, documenting and evangelizing best practices to achieve optimal physical designs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES : Physical design expert collaborating with IP teams from early architecture phases to drive best practices and develop methodology to : Increase logic utilization percentageIncrease final silicon clock frequenciesImprove PD repeatability and reduce final PD cycle timesRun tight iterations of synthesis and place and route trials with RTL design teams to provide feedback and drive to optimal results for power, performance and area (PPA)Participate in the evaluation of advance next-

specific physical design guidelines for use by SOC PD teams responsible for the final production physical designExperimenting with new PD tools / methodologies to achieve improved results, in collaboration with PD CADDriving improved correlation between IP synthesis and SoC PD, in collaboration with PD CADCollaborate with IP teams to drive design architecture enhancements which improve lead to enhanced PD QORREQUIREMENTS10+ years experience in ASIC Design with relevant Physical Design SkillsMinimum BSEE / CE, or equivalent degree, Masters is definitely as assetPrior experience and in depth knowledge on Chip Level Floor planning, Bus / Pin Planning, Clock Tree Synthesis, Placement, Optimization, Routing, Parasitic Extraction, Static Timing Analysis, IR drop analysis, Physical Verification and Sign OffExpertise in synthesis, formal verification, and timing closure.
Knowledge of RTL coding and coding best practices for synthesisWorking experience on CAD tools from Synopsys and Cadence requiredExperience with flow development and scriptingStrong communication, Time Management and Presentation SkillsAble to work in a geographically dispersed out teamsStrong analytical and problem solving skills along with attention to details.
