The Compliance and Enforcement (C&E) team has several vacancies for a Natural Resource Officer (NRO). The work of an NRO is primarily field-oriented (including "off-hours" shifts) combined with office duties.
Working in a collaborative team environment, the Natural Resource Officer is responsible for conducting inspections and investigations on the land base.
NROs protect British Columbian’s land base by inspecting and investigating a wide variety of natural resource legislation including forests, wildfire, lands, water and cultural heritage resources.
Our mandate offers diversity and the opportunity to work within many areas of the natural resource sector.
This role requires a thorough analytical thinker, able to assess compliance with provincial statutes and regulations, drawing conclusions and recommending appropriate corrective action such as compliance notices, warnings, violation tickets, court prosecutions or administrative hearings.
C&E work also integrates its activities with other provincial and federal regulatory agencies and participates on joint-agency projects.
As a Natural Resource Officer, you will have the opportunity to work on important provincial projects and participate in working groups.
You will be designated a Special Provincial Constable with associated authorities in place to assist in complex investigative and legal needs.
