This role will provide you with an opportunity to develop as a Junior Engineer-in-Training Mechanical Engineering, while also allowing you to work towards developing a unique skill set as an expert in integrated design.

Role Overview

The Mechanical EIT will work under the supervision of the Intermediate and Senior Engineers within the mechanical practice.

This position focuses on developing mechanical engineering designs and solutions for new and existing building projects.

You will be responsible for working directly with clients to ensure their needs are understood and met. You will also be responsible for coordinating with other internal and external design team members as applicable.

You will have the opportunity to work on exciting local projects. Examples of projects that we are really proud to have in our portfolio include the uWaterloo Environment 3 Building, uWaterloo Douglas Wright Engineering Building Renovation, Waterloo Region Museum, and the Kitchener Public Library expansion.

  • What You Will Do

  • Responsible for design and calculations of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and controls for mid-sized projects
  • Assist with heating and cooling load, piping and ductwork calculations and layouts
  • Coordination with equipment suppliers, contractors, and other design disciplines
  • Prepare specifications to supplement drawings in project bid packages
  • Support field reviews and answer coordination questions throughout construction
  • Assist in preparation of AutoCAD drawings
  • Works directly with the customers under guidance as required
  • What We Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics is an asset.
  • Eligible to become a registered Engineering-in-Training (EIT) through PEO.
  • Co-op / internship experience in an engineering consulting firm.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Working Conditions and Safety

    Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. 4 : 00 p.m., and some overtime hours may be required from time to time.

    Ability to travel away from the office is required to assist and attend on-site project meetings.

    In this role, you will work within the company safety policies and procedures, and adhere to any applicable federal or provincial legislation.
