Corporate & Funding Technology (CFT) is responsible for the technology behind many critical functions across Morgan Stanley, including Finance, Risk, Operations, Legal & Compliance, Digital Communications and Human Resources.

The group also provides technology solutions for firm funding and client financing, primarily partnering with Bank Resource Management and the Prime Brokerage business.

Position Description :

We are looking for an experienced, innovative, highly motivated, hands-on Technology Manager with a Web development background to expand our teams delivery capacity and capabilities, as well as to participate in the coding and delivery of solutions (50 -

70% coding / 30 - 50% team management). The position reports into the TOMS Development Lead, and would be responsible for leading a team of 5+ developers.

The Technology & Operations Management Systems (TOMS) develops and supports best-of-breed solutions to enable Technology, Operations and Finance divisions manage themselves as a business.

The solutions enable the organization to operate efficiently, provide facilitate appropriate levels of control and provide timely information to support business decision making.

Our platform is used by over 25,000 users globally and is used to managed over $4 billion of technology spend per annum.

Success in this position requires a range of skills, both interpersonal and technical. It requires a solid foundation across the complete spectrum of web development technologies and best practices.

Quality best practices are also essential, such as software validation techniques, design and implementation documentation, and robust code construction practices.

Primary responsibilities include :

1. Partner with key sponsors and other TOMS team leads to refine strategic vision and roadmap for custom web product suite

2. Partner with technology leads and individual product owners at maintaining a clear strategic vision for the individual product areas

3. Partner with technology leads and individual product owners to drive requirements, technical designs and successful delivery of web applications in support of our product area roadmaps

4. Manage direct reports (3 - 5 developers) at effectively managing their career, goals, deliverables across various technical implementations

5. Serve as primary liaison between your team and centralized infrastructure groups

Qualifications :

  • 10+ years in a similar role
  • Bachelor degree in a Computer Science or a similar field
  • Experienced with the Java platform and frameworks : Java 8, Spring Framework, Junit
  • Experienced with the web technologies and toolkits : HTML5, JSON
  • In-depth knowledge of design patterns
  • Strong technical background in data modeling and databases, such as Oracle
  • Excellent presentations skills : ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner; individually or in front of a group
  • Highly experienced in technical / team leadership role; strong team management (team of 5+ developers); excellent mentoring and resource management skills
  • Experience working with global teams and global application environments
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to functional and senior business audience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate with clients, global project teams and senior managers
  • Strong attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high quality business solutions
  • Strong understanding of SDLC methodologies with track record of high quality deliverables and data quality
  • Skills desired :

  • Knowledge of DB2 and / or Sybase
  • Knowledge of Angular or React
  • Google Guava
  • Testing frameworks such as : mockito, jMock or JBehave
  • Microsoft Office suite including Visio
  • Familiarity with Unix scripting
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring and load testing tools, like HP Load Runner and AppDynamics.
  • Knowledge of French and English are required.
