Reporting to the Museum Services Supervisor, you will be responsible for operational and supervisory work in providing general building, and equipment maintenance to Museum facilities and site.
The work involves planning, scheduling, and coordinating the provision of building, grounds, pathways and equipment maintenance, supervising subordinates engaged in building maintenance, grounds and janitorial activities, performing maintenance and technical work on Museum facilities and site, preparing maintenance budget estimates, and monitoring and controlling expenditures and revenues.
Establishes and implements new and / or improved work methods and procedures; develops and maintains operating procedures manuals for staff, buildings and equipment.
The Maintenance Supervisor exercises considerable independence of judgement and action within established guidelines while more complex or policy matters are referred to a superior.
Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include completion of grade 12 supplemented by technical courses in building maintenance or related certifications plus sound experience in building maintenance including supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, tools and equipment used in building and site support services, maintenance and repair work.
Sound knowledge of the methods, materials, policies and practices used in maintenance and repair on heritage buildings and historic machinery.
Working knowledge of the various trades involved in building repairs and general maintenance of buildings and support systems.
to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.; and to coordinate and maintain inventories of janitorial and building maintenance supplies.
Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
