Status : Regular, Full Time (40 hours per week), Union
Pay Rate : $43.68 - $50.57 / hour
Reports to : Regional Business Leader, Interior
Principal Accountabilities :
Assisting the code shops in the interpretation and application of codes
to-date on industry changes and upgrading knowledge and skills on an ongoing basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience :
Applicants must have a combination of education and experience to be eligible to obtain a NBIC In-Service Commission exam within the first year of employment.
Completion of an accredited trade certification program in such skills as : boilermaker, boiler mechanic, steamfitter, machinist millwright, or welder.
Completion of a power engineering certification program.
Completion of a military or merchant marine training program on stationary boilers, pressure vessels, or nuclear reactors.
Completion of a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification program or an equivalent certification.
Completion of Technology courses, Code courses, or National Board Conducted Courses.
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Science or Mathematics
Experience could include one or more years’ experience associated with the pressure equipment industry in the following categories :
Engineering or design review
Manufacturing, including fabrication methods or processes, in either shop or field
Operation of boiler(s) exceeding 50,000 lbs. of steam per hour total capacity
Performance of repairs, alterations, or maintenance of boilers or pressure vessels
Quality control system related to boiler or pressure vessel manufacturing, repair, or alteration in either shop or field
Inspection of boilers or pressure vessels either in-service or during construction
Obtain a National Board In-Service Commission within one year of employment.
Obtain a National Board New Construction A Endorsement within two year of employment.
Obtain a Technical Safety BC Safety Officer Certificate of Qualification within one year of employment.
Knowledge of Boiler, Pressure Vessel, Piping, Fittings and Refrigeration codes.
Ability to assess situations that may lead to a variance.
Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
Ability to write concise reports.
Good keyboarding and computer skills, including knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid BC Drivers’ License and a willingness to travel.
