    The Opportunity :

    Our Archaeology team has grown over the past few years and as a result, we're adding another Applied Research Archaeologist to join our thriving team.

    Based in either the GTA, or the Hamilton region, you'll be joining a team of over 1200 professionals within our Environmental business line at WSP.

    As an Archaeologist on our team, you will be coordinating with archaeology project managers, acting as a field director for crews within the Archaeology and Heritage group, writing reports, and providing general support to the Archaeology and Heritage group where needed.

    A day in the life :

  • You will provide project support for Stages 1 through 4 archaeological assessments, including the analysis of field data and writing reports;
  • You will oversee and supervise field crews for Stage 2, 3, and 4 archaeological assessments;
  • You will effectively manage crews to perform work diligently and accurately, and manage communications between field and office teams

    We'd love to hear from you if you have...

  • A degree in Archaeology or related discipline as well as an Applied Research license issued by the Ontario Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries;
  • Practical experience in Cultural Resource Management in Ontario;
  • Experience operating high precision GPS or total station equipment;
  • Experience managing field crews of 2-10+ people;
  • Solid understanding of the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists;
  • Artifact identification skills for both Indigenous and Euro-Canadian material;
  • Experience writing archaeological assessment reports;
  • Artifact cataloging experience; and

    Safety-oriented approach to archaeological field assessments.
